It’s Super Bowl Sunday and that means automakers are going to be turning on the ad blitz during the big game.
During the game itself, expect nothing from General Motors, Ford and Toyota. but the others will certainly weigh in, along with auto-related businesses like Cars.com and tire makers. here is what the automakers have planned:
•Audi. The German brand, a Super Bowl veteran, uses humor to underscore the fuel-saving virtues of its compact A3 TDI diesel sedan. with clean energy in vogue, “We thought the timing would be perfect,” says Scott Keogh, chief marketer for Audi of America.
•Dodge. The Chrysler brand wants to show some fun and excitement — and put the summer’s financial woes behind. It will showcase the Dodge Charger R/T to show it has “real driving vehicles with muscle car power and sports car handling,” spokesman Gualberto Ranieri says.
•Honda. An animated ad humorously demonstrates the new Accord Crossover hatchback’s roominess. A character throw stuff in the back to show how much will fit.
•Hyundai. one ad will show the body of the new Sonata sedan being dipped in a paint tank to classical music. A second has some fun with the age of Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre. It’s one of eight asds that will run during Sunday. Hyundai had a hard time deciding which two to choose for the actual game.
•Kia. Children’s toys become characters to underscore attributes of the new Sorento crossover. Fun, versatility. each one does their part.
•Volkswagen. to highlight its many, varied models, VW’s spot plays off the old back seat kid’s game of counting Volkswagens. The goal is not only to evoke nostalgia, but try to serve the more important goal of getting people to realize how many different models the automakers offers now. That’s VW’s big problem. People don’t know about their expanded line.
