* Seed: 4th, East Region

* National ranking: No. 16 AP, No. 19 coaches’ poll

* Conference: Big Ten

* NCAA first-round result: The Badgers held off a second-half comeback by Wofford and won, 53-49, behind 20 points from 6-foot-10 junior forward Jon Leuer. Leuer hit the go-ahead bucket with 17 seconds left, then sealed the victory with two free throws with 4.9 seconds left.

* Probable starters: Leuer (6-10, 230, junior, forward), Keatin Nankivil (6-8, 245, Jr., F), Trevon Hughes (6-0, 195, senior, guard), Jordan Taylor (6-1, 195, sophomore, G), Jason Bohannon (6-2, 195, Sr., G).

* Key reserves: Ryan Evans (6-6, 210, redshirt Fr., G/F), Tim Jarmusz (6-6, 208, Jr., F/G), Mike Bruesewitz (6-6, 220, Fr., F).

* Outlook: If Cornell has an advantage, it is knowing how to prepare for a quick turnaround on the fly. The back-to-back scheduling nature of the Ivy League should make Saturday’s day off feel like 72 hours for the Big Red. High energy levels will be needed once again Sunday. Wisconsin is similar to Temple — a tough defensive team that plays at a deliberate pace. Leuer is the type of step-out forward that has hurt Cornell this season (think a better version of Bucknell’s Mike Muscala or Davidson’s Josh Cohen). Hughes and Bohannon are experienced guards and good scorers, and Ryan is one of the country’s best coaches. The script doesn’t change for Cornell: it needs to again play solid help defense, limit second-chance opportunities and make shots. Wisconsin isn’t the most athletic team in the country, and Cornell is fully capable of recording a second straight upset in the Sunshine State.
