The night’s next guest performer is Australian singer and guitarist Orianthi, dressed in solid black and playing a red Paul Smith guitar. she sings her 2009 hit According to You, throwing fast little licks between vocal lines then playing a solo full of hammer-ons. Hope Casey James is taking notes.
Ryan chats with her for a bit about her Grammy performance and her audition for Michael Jackson’s band. “My hands were sweaty,” Orianthi says, adding that it was amazing, “a dream come true,” getting to work with Michael for that brief time before his death.
