A report in the Palm Beach Post on Thursday says that former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow scored 22 out of 50 points on the Wonderlic test at the NFL Combine.
That score was slightly below the NFL average for quarterbacks, 24. the Wonderlic test is a 12-minute, 50-question exam given at the Combine that assesses a person’s learning and problem-solving abilities.
The average score for 30 quarterbacks slated as NFL starters in 2010 is at 28.5, according to the Post report, which cites an unnamed NFL source. the average score among the past seven Super Bowl winning QBs is a 30.1.
Tebow also had the lowest Wonderlic score among the top four quarterback prospects in this year’s draft, according to the Post report. Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford had the top mark with a 36, according to the source, while Texas’ Colt McCoy scored a 25 and Notre Dame’s Jimmy Clausen had a 23.
Tebow won the National Football Foundation’s William V. Campbell Trophy, known as the “Academic Heisman,” in 2009. He graduated Florida with a 3.66 GPA and is a two-time first Team Academic All-American.
