Bonnaroo’s official website confirmed late Tuesday that legendary Steve wonder will take the stage at this year’s festival. he joins the Flaming Lips, Jeff Beck, The Dave Matthews Band, John Fogerty, Weezer and The Avett Brothers are among the confirmed performers for the music festival’s 2010 edition, as tickets went on sale Tuesday.
At the end of the day, Kings of Leon, Jack White-led the Dead Weather and the legendary Kris Kristofferson were also in the mix.
The complete lineup, with many major performers rumored to appear, was announced in drips and drabs throughout the course of the day Tuesday.
Rumors had circulated online for weeks about various major stars appearing. Paul Simon, Paul McCartney and wonder are among those whose names have been linked to the event. The organizers will be updating the lineup throughout the day so traffic to the festival website may be heavy.
Other confirmed groups include Jay-Z, Norah Jones, Jimmy Cliff, Regina Spektor, Phoenix, OK go, GWAR, she & him, The xx, Medeski Martin and Wood, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Ingrid Michaelson, Mayer Hawthorne & the County, Wale, Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers, Bassnectar, Monte Montgomery, Punch Brothers, Thievery Corporation, Tokyo Police Club, Kid Cudi, Japandroids and Dr. Dog.
Added Tuesday afternoon: Baaba Maal, Neon Indian, Zac Brown Band, The National, John Prine, Dave Rawlings, Machine, Local Natives, Dropkick Murphys, Manchester Orchestra, Jay Electronica, The Postelles and Carolina Chocolate Drops.
Even more acts confirmed Tuesday evening: Rise against, Brandi Carlisle, Les Claypool, Damian Marley & Nas, Tenacious D, the Black Keys, Miranda Lambert, Jamey Johnson, Diane Birch, NeedtoBreathe, Tori Amos, they Might be Giants, the Gaslight Anthem, Lotus, the Melvins, the Dodos, Blitzen Trapper, Lucero and LCD Soundsystem.
In all, more than 50 bands have been announced. Tickets went on sale at 11 a.m. for the June 10-13 event in Manchester. Details are available at the show’s website.
