UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Nov. 23 (UPI) — Musicians Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman have signed up to be judges on the new U.S. competition series “The Sing-Off,” NBC said Monday.
During the four-night televised competition, eight a cappella groups will vie for $100,000 and an Epic Records/Sony recording contract.
The contestants are Beelzebubs from Boston; Noteworthy from Provo, Utah; Face from Boulder, Colo.; Maxx Factor from Baltimore; Nota from San Juan, Puerto Rico; the SoCals from Los Angeles; Solo from Omaha, Neb.; and Voices of Lee from Cleveland, Tenn.
Recording artist Nick Lachey is to serve as host of the series, which is to premiere Dec. 14 and continue Dec. 15-16. the live finale is scheduled for Dec. 21.
A third judge will be announced for each night the show airs, NBC said.
